TWO EMPORIA/GREENSVILLE RECKLESS DRIVING CASES, TWO DIFFERENT LAWYERS AND TWO VERY DIFFERENT RESULTS

Leavitt & Martin represented a client charged in traffic court in Greensville/Emporia who was charged with driving 102 mph in a 70 zone. In any court in Virginia this is a serious charge that carries the possibility of jail time and a license suspension and a high fine.

In court today, the prosecutor (as expected) would not agree to reduce the charge. So we came up with a plan that may very well result in a reduced charge, as it has in the past. Here is a copy of the case information:

Speeding Ticket, Reckless Driving by Speed Emporia Greensville 102 Likely to be Reduced

While I cannot guarantee this case will be reduced, every case I have had in the past 8 years HAS been reduced. So that is my expectation. See the result though, there is a fine of $400 and there is NO LICENSE SUSPENSION and NO JAIL TIME. If my client does what he needs to, I expect the court will reduce the charge to a traffic infraction in Emporia Greensville traffic court that is not reckless driving and not a criminal misdemeanor.

DIFFERENT LAWYER, MUCH DIFFERENT RESULT FOR 102 MPH in GREENSVILLE EMPORIA TRAFFIC COURT

Note that every case is unique and past results do not guarantee or predict the future. I have blocked out this attorney’s name, but this is someone known for charging low fees. In my opinion, this person saved a little on the front end for the attorney fee but they greatly overpaid on the back end in the form of a conviction, a license suspension, and a MUCH MUCH MUCH HIGHER FINE.

As you can see, whereas our client got not jail sentence, no license suspension, a fine of $400 this “low price” attorney got a conviction for misdemeanor reckless driving, a fine of $1000, a license suspension of 90 days, and a 30 day suspended jail sentence which means they are on unsupervised probation for 3 years.

CHEAPER REPRESENTATION OFTEN MEANS LOW QUALITY REPRESENTATION IN MY OPINION

I see cases like this every day where people hire someone who does not do things the right way and it often has tangible results. And those results are not good. Call today to see what we might be able to accomplish in your case.
